220 Melodies
for Dictation and Sight-Reading Studies

This book, consisting of 220 melodies in modal and tonal structures of varying lengths, incorporating simple, compound, and irregular meters, has been meticulously prepared to support dictation and sight-reading exercises. The modal melodies are based on the traditions of Ancient Greek music, representing seven modes-Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, and Locrian—each distinguished by its unique intervallic structure and characteristic atmosphere. The tonal melodies, on the other hand, are constructed within established tonal principles, adhering to major and minor scales.

The pieces included in the book have been composed in a manner that aligns with the aesthetic sensibilities and musical understanding of the 21st century, taking into account both pedagogical and artistic values.
